Detective RPG "The Story Begins!"
Here we go!
Luanna squeezed her knees tighter to her chest. The room was dark, and she was watching Narnia, Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and it was at the climax. Lucy had just said, "Edmund, what did you just think of?" Luanna had watched this movie several times, but she still loved watching it. Just as the sea serpents started oozing their slimy bodies over the boat, her laptop beeped. Luanna sighed, for she did not wish to be disturbed at this time. She took hold of the control, pushed the PAUSE button, slid out of her warm comfy chair and flicked on the lights.
Luanna went over to her laptop, and read the alert, her eyes began to sparkle with anticipation. She ran to the door, and flew down the stairs.
"Guys! The Chief is on the big screen TV waiting to tell us our mission, c'mon!"

Amelia's down in the basement playing a game of ninja with the others when Luanna comes. Everyone quickly stops the game, and heads upstairs for their assignments. Amelia grabs her small messenger bag, and goes on up with the others.

Tim is preparing to spy on the detective's communications with the chief. However, he is doing badly enough that he knows he will likely be detected.
Re: Detective RPG "The Story Begins!"
Unknown and suspicious character, Chris Thompson, is sitting in a dark room, far from the headquarters of the agents, with a laptop on his, well...lap. He already knows the assignments of everyone at headquarters, and prepares to start his master plan. For better or for worse, nobody knows.

Re: Detective RPG "The Story Begins!"
Everyone gathers in front of the large screen TV, and the chief appears.
"There was a knock and grab robbery in the downtown area. Victim is a middle-aged woman. At the same time there was a hold up in Capital One bank - only a couple hundred dollars was stolen. And still at the same time there was a shooting at a local pharmacy - one dead, 3 severely injured. Somehow, these all seem to be connected."
The chief goes on to give the little pieces of evidence of how they are suspected to be connected, and then give assignments...

Chris, the currently mysterious character, puts his laptop away, grabs his bag and sunglasses (even though it is night) and leaves his apartment. He walks down the street to a secure location, and starts on his plans...

I agree, I just hope it will get off its feet.
I guess I'll make the next move. I run down a dark alley, and set up a temporary camp for the night.

Is this the same one as we did in the chat? If so, what happened to the robot, and GG, and NarniaQAguy, and the others?

This should be a totally different story.
Re: Detective RPG "The Story Begins!"
It isn't the same one we did in chat. It is kind of the same story, Chris is an evil mastermind, and there are young detectives trying to stop him, but it is a different scenario. No robot, Brit wasn't kidnapped, etc. So, this story could go any direction.

I sure hope it doesn't go One Direction.
Okay, I'm done with lame jokes... for now.
So, where do I wake up?
(it's still unknown whether I'm good or bad)

Re: Detective RPG "The Story Begins!"
Aww, bummer, I lost my brand-new Chromebook. I sure hope nothing personal was on there, because I never got around to encrypting it.
I'm going to go report the crime to the local police.
But, as soon as I enter, they arrest me on charges of vandalism. I guess I had amnesia and forgot about breaking the police headquarters' windows. I remember now.

*Chris walks down the street, and uses a glass cutter on the local diamond store's front door. He slowly creeps in, knowing that the police don't know he is there, and the detective agency will never catch him.*

Re: Detective RPG "The Story Begins!"
Amelia is assigned to go assist Hughes to check out a hold up at a local bank.
"Hurry up, Palmer!" he says, as they hurry through the busy streets.
Amelia must jog to keep up with him.
Grant me humility, Lord, she prays as she hurries past police headquarters, where new windows are being installed.
Raymond Hughes has a good many years of experience compared to her. He holds high expectations for anyone who works with him. He also has a matter-of-fact attitude. Multiple times she has felt as if his corrections and pointers were critical remarks, when he only meant to be helpful. She's afraid that her pride will get in the way of her work.
Inside the bank, Hughes tells her to take the notes.
"I don't know! He was dressed in black, head to toe. How'as I'supposed to know what he looked like?!" the man, Bill, says.
"Was there any uncommon appearances about him?" Hughes asks.
"Well," the man scratches his head, "I'suppose there was a little tuff of hair sticken' out of his mask."
"What color? How long?" Hughes asks, impatiently.
"Uh, well, um... I'suppose it was bout' half an inch to an inch, or maybe it was two inches..."
"Not nearly that long!" a lady steps up. "It was decently short, I'd say."
"Yeah, listen to her," the man says again, "See - ladies notice these things."
"What's you're name, ma'm?" Hughes asks.
"Eleanor - Eleanor Peterson."
Hughes glanced at Amelia to make sure that she was making note of everything said.
"And what color did you say the hair was?" Hughes asks again.
"Red."
"No, it was brown," Eleanor says.
"Naw, I'm certain it was red!" Bill says.
"But you just said that ladies notice these things more!..."
Hughes is getting extremely impatient, and after another minute or so, they settle on the fact that the person's hair was most likely brown.
Hughes asks a few more questions, and then takes a look around. No evidence is to be found. Although only a few hundred dollars was stolen, Hughes seems to be rather disturbed about this. Maybe it is the fact that only a little money was stolen, instead of a lot, that bothers him so much. What was it that hindered the thief from stealing more?

Re: Detective RPG "The Story Begins!"
I easily break out of the holding cell, like so many times before. It's a sad skill to have to use, but I have little choice. I can't let them know what I know.
Before the police know it, I'm outside the city limits, heading nowhere in particular in my ultra-rugged car.
I'm still bummed out about losing my $300 Chromebook, which I had saved up money for a long time. Maybe I should have spent the money on a better guitar?

Mwahaha, while the fool detective agency was gathering clues at the bank, I stole a very rare ruby from the jewelry store. I make it into the night, and DISAPPEAR!

Re: Detective RPG "The Story Begins!"
Hughes' phone rings.
"This is Hughes," he says into the phone.
There's a silent pause.
"Great," he says sarcastically, "I'll be right there."
Closing his phone, Amelia is informed, "A rare ruby was stolen."
Hughes hurries out the door, with Amelia at his heels.
At the the jewelry store, the very upset jeweler informes them about the ruby, it's value, and what little he knows about the robbery.
Amelia makes notes as Hughes examines the glass case. Then they carefully examine the back door which the robber used, as well as the back alley. No fingerprints, or anything else is to be found.
...or wait! Amelia sees a little piece of paper on the ground. She crouches down, and looks at it closely without touching it. Chromebook Manual she reads.
"What have you got there?" Hughes asks.
"A Chromebook manual," Amelia replies, not sure what to think of it.
Hughes steps back inside the door. "You wouldn't happen to own a Chromebook, would you?"
"Nope," the jeweler replies.
"Take it," Hughes tells her, "It could be evidence."
Amelia slips on a glove and carefully picks it up with her fingertips, putting it into a plastic bag.

Down at the electronics store, Chris breaks in using an electomagnetic device that shuts down the whole security system. He then waltzes in, and steals 3 USB backups, 2 webcams, and a GPS. He then tangos out of the store, and disappears into the night. Again.

Re: Detective RPG "The Story Begins!"
I walk into my hideout on the outskirts of town, and call my boss. He informs me of the ruby robbery, and instructs me to find out who did it, and recover the ruby.
I walk into the jewelry store, and see that I'm not the only one investigating.
(Hint to my fellow writers... I've decided I'm a good guy, but your characters don't know that yet. I'm deep undercover. I'll reveal myself only if it's life or death)

Re: Detective RPG "The Story Begins!"
Hughes and Amelia are finishing up their investigation when Tim comes in. And the purchase of jewelry doesn't really seem to be on his mind right now. Just as Hughes is about to say something to him, his phone rings - again.
"This is Hughes."
Amelia concludes her notes about the exact details of the broken glass case, and watches for Hughes reaction to whatever the person the other end of the line is saying.
"You can't be serious," Hughes sounds completely frustrated.
Putting his phone away, he tells the jeweler that they'll do what they can to recover the jewel, and that they'll see about sending another agent later for further investigation.
Outside, as they walk, Hughes informs Amelia, "Wiley's Electronics store security system was completely shut down, along with 2 webcams and 3 USB backups taken. Whoever this sneak is - he seems to be a mastermind."
Then Hughes starts to mumble as he thinks to himself, "The bank... only 3 hundred dollars stollen?! Hair... brown, decently short... dressed in black. Rare jewel stolen... glass cutter he seems to.. used... Chromebook manu... Chromebook!"
Hughes shoves a stick of gum in his mouth, and chomps on it.
"Chromebook... electronics..."
Amelia listens silently, as Hughes tries to work out the facts in his head.
