The Passion of the Christ Empty Re: The Passion of the Christ

Post by Jesusfreak97 30th March 2013, 7:29 am

I have. It's a powerful Movie, We showed it here last night at the park, And 10 to 15 people prayed for salvation Smile This movie make me cry though.

But It makes me sad to see how much pain Jesus went through just for us, That is a true Sacrifice. & I am very grateful for all he had done for me Smile

I never have, although I hope to sometime. I'm sure I'm going to cry during it, but I'm afraid of watching it before I'm ready.

I'm hoping to get to see it soon, but I've not yet. We may go to the live Passion play here, though. =)

Why don't they like it? It's about Jesus and what he did for us?

I am not sure comepletely about what they don't like but I think it has something to do with the changes they made from the Bible.

I've been wondering how it would compare with the actual Bible passages. I'm not always a big fan of the acted out Bible stories, so I'm wondering if I'd really appreciate and benefit from watching it.

Wow, Arkan. I just saw this for the first time a few days ago. It was a very powerful movie.

Conquestor, do you know of any specific differences between the movie and Scripture? There were a couple of things I spotted.

1: It's rated R
2: My dad says it's from a Roman Catholic point of view at that it has some bad theology

Spoiler:

I just found this. I generally agree with everything said. I did not see any major deviations from Scripture, with the portrayal of Satan being the biggest potential issue. The movie did elaborate on certain things, and did make links and connections not found in the Bible.

I don't know much about the movie world, so I couldn't confirm or disprove that. It is a very violent movie, because Christ died a very violent death.

I've never seen it, but I've heard of it. Is it really rated "R", and if so, why?

The reason the movie is rated R is because of blood and violence. To accurately show how the Romans beat their victums, they had to show a great deal of blood. The Romans didn't just give Jesus a few scratches on his back; they beat him until he was a piece of raw meat.

The Passion of the Christ Empty Re: The Passion of the Christ

Post by T.S. (myself) 2nd April 2013, 10:55 pm

That's what I would say too. The movie is supposed to be very historically and (mainly, depending on your beliefs) biblically accurate. In my opinion, the movie did not add excess violence or imagery only for the sake of violence, but in an attempt to portray Christ's crucifixion as accurately as they could. I greatly appreciate this, especially when it seems many movies are spoiled by unnecessary content. However, the movie begins in the garden, and ends with five seconds showing Christ's resurrection. Nearly the entire movie was spent in the trial, punishment, and execution of Jesus, thus nearly the entire movie was portraying violence of some sort against him.

If it had been entirely me, I would have waited longer to see this movie, but my parents suggested it, and in retrospect I am glad I watched it, though it was very difficult to watch. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone unless they were of an older age or their parents wanted them to see it.
