First topic message reminder :

This is a big issue in the US, but it is also in other countries too. What are your views?

I think it's a big mistake.

How about giving them a tax credit and letting them choose their own?

There was a time before health care. I'm just saying....

A tax credit would not cover medical expenses.

Um...Yes it would. It's the difference between the government using money to choose what insurance you get, or the giving you the money and letting you decide.

BT, I don't think you understand, you will save money, also a tax credit would not cover medical bills, weather you want to believe it or not. What would, happen if someone you cared about suddenly became ill and you couldn't do anything about it because you didn't have enough money?

Federalized health care - Page 2 Empty Re: Federalized health care

Wow... I hate to jump in.

Unfortunately, what I've seen a lot in the past few months concerning taxes and health care is no one knows what they are talking about... blunt as it may be. Oregon missed their chance by a mile. And now people are saying Obama is turning socialist... ah, the idiocy of this country...

Just so people can FINALLY realize what the H is going on with the now passed health care bill (yes, its been passed... now, wait 3 to 4 years. It'll be PERFECTLY fine).

*cough cough* *clears throat* The health care bill states that those that don't have health care will get health care of some form. Not necessarily government, but health care. And it isn't socialist. There are MANY out there that don't have insurance that don't go to a doctor for medical treatment AT ALL. They die. Is that right? Um... no. Many go to an ER where they know they will get attention, but when it is only a scrap or something minor, it clogs up the ER for more important patients, and it hurts others. There is one ER in a surrounding area, and do you know who goes there? Just about everyone in a hour and a half radius. Why? because they don't have the insurance or the care, so the ER it is.

The health care passed will do amazing wonders. I don't care if the person who drinks will get the care. I find it outrageous when people say things about doctors and such. Honestly, if you're a doctor, the money shouldn't be the fuel. It should be the patients and the need in this country. Obama pushed his agenda: health care. CONGRESS made it happen, one way or another. (So don't blame Obama for all of it. Learn about the GOVERNMENT and how it WORKS please)

Plus, those who have good health care now, or even have healthcare: their healthcare won't change. So the quality will never go down. Guess what? The quality now will be the same because its the doctors, NOT THE MONEY. The system has ways... and the system right now is flawed. But its the doctors. The more people that can get through medical school, the better. The more doctors for the patients, the better. The more doctors in primary care, the better (that is one reason why things are slightly bad. Not enough primary care doctors. More specialists, even though there is a need in every healthcare area right now. Nurses, doctors, practitioners)

So, ending my *hopefully attentive* rant, my point is: healthcare can only get fixed if something happens. Obama said, Congress acted. Money really won't matter... because the economy already shows us why. Those that need the care will get it. Those that already have it will still have it. The quality won't change... please, I'm not sure where that fits into all this. People need the help NOW, not in 4 years either...

I agree. Also if starving med school students are willing to volunteer at a homeless shelter to provide basic med care here in Canada, a country with health care, why should money matter to paid doctors. Here's the whole story.
