Why? I don't see why you'd want too.

Go to a Catholic School? Do you not like being Homeschooled?
Re: Homeschool or Public School
FYI I am a Catholic. And yes I loved being homeschooled but I need to try new things.
Re: Homeschool or Public School
I have been homeschooled since 5th grade. My parents were planning on taking me out before middle school, but things got so bad for me at our public school, that I begged my mom to let me start homeschooling a year early. So she did, and I like it so much better!

Re: Homeschool or Public School
I have been homeschooled since the first grade, and will probably be all the way through high-school! I went to a public school for kindergarten and part of first grade, and my class had 36 kids in it! My school was going through major financial problems after 90+ million dollars mysteriously disappeared.
Don't get me wrong, though. I think just about anyone in America (and in a lot of other countries, too) can get a great education, depending on what they put into it.

Re: Homeschool or Public School
I went to a private Christian school until 3rd grade. However, my parents decided that tuition costed too much, and that it would help test and grow my faith to attend a public school which I have done since then. Now I know for most of you, "Public school" is some awful sinful taboo where faith goes to die and there are drug dealers in every hall- this is incorrect. I have met many wonderful people, christian and non christian who have helped me become the person I am now. And I almost feel bad for all of you who are homeschooled because in many ways, you are nowhere near socially or spiritually prepared to be absorbed in society when your education is complete. Bullies, stereotypes, druggies, and other sinful people are in no way good people to meet, but they help prepare for the struggles that lie ahead. I love my school and my friends and I don't think my parents were wrong to put me in it.

Just to tag onto that, if your mind is made up to do right, God will help you.
Re: Homeschool or Public School
I was homeschooled all my life. And I can see that there has been a lot of benefits from it. So, if I was given the option to do it all over, only go to public/private school, I think I would stick with homeschool.
Though, I would have at least liked to have experienced it. Just for the sole sake of experience.

Re: Homeschool or Public School
That's a valid opinion, Nate Maxwell, but not all of us are equipped to do well in public school. I would also like to point out that homeschooling is generally more efficient than other schooling, depending on the home and person. Even though I was probably slightly behind in reading and writing in first grade, I have worked my way steadily to much higher level courses. This would not have been possible if I had not been homeschooled from 2d grade on.
I agree with you on the testing and strengthening of faith, though. We have less opportunities to do this in public, and it is one of the few downsides of homeschooling.
Snubs, I would choose the exact same thing.

Re: Homeschool or Public School
I just happen to be a Homeschooler, but I have gone to private. Nate I can see your point. You can be a light in a Public School. I wouldn't go to public school just because I'm my mom's little baby I like being with her.
Truth is most of my family including my brother is wordly. My mom and dad are christians. My dads side is a Pastor and a ton of Pentecostals. My moms side totally different story. So I have been around that kind of stuff.

Re: Homeschool or Public School
I seem to be the only homeschooler in the world besides my brother who doesn't like it. My best friend is busy, and I have a feeling I'd see her a lot more at school. My curriculum takes about an hour to complete. So I have nothing to do except sit around, read, or play on the computer. I can't call up my friends cause their at school. Playing outside isn't fun unless there is someone else to play with you. There are a lot of Christian teachers at the local school AND high school.
At least my current curriculum doesn't have puppets and reading class.

Re: Homeschool or Public School
Yeah. I don't see why some kids complain about going to school. They have their friends, real teachers, recess where you get to hang out with everyone, different things to go to , field trips to awesome places, plays, art classes, everything.
Though, on another note, while I'm pretty sure 80% Odyssey listeners are homeschooled, while most all school takes place in a public.

Re: Homeschool or Public School
Yep, I noticed that too, GJoy. I think it was mostly because they needed the other characters around to keep the story moving. So having them in a public school works. Though, I do wish they would touch on homeschooling a bit more.GJoy wrote:Though, on another note, while I'm pretty sure 80% Odyssey listeners are homeschooled, while most all school takes place in a public.
Re: Homeschool or Public School
it is kind of weird that homeschooling is somewhat rare on aio when there are i think 2 people who have listened to the show that aren't homeschooled.
